Ageon vs Apple Health Age: what each one measures
Health Age is part of the Longevity tab in Apple's redesigned Health app, announced in September 2026. It compares your Apple Watch data, and lab results if you add them, with your real age. Ageon estimates your age from quick tests plus the same Apple Health data, then helps you test which habits move it.
| Ageon | Apple Health Age | |
|---|---|---|
| What you need | An iPhone. Apple Watch, rings and smart scales are optional. | An Apple Watch and an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence. |
| Cost | Free to start. Premium is $5.99 a month or $34.99 a year, with a 7-day trial. | Free. |
| Availability | US, Canada, UK and Australia. | US English first, rolling out from late 2026. |
| Inputs | Cardio, strength, sleep, activity, body composition, and mobility and balance. Blood markers optional. | VO2 max, resting heart rate, HRV and sleep, plus lab results if you add them. |
| How it's calculated | Published, with every reference table, weight and source. | Not published. |
| Testing what works | Try one change for 7 to 56 days and compare your readings with the four weeks before. It shows what changed, not proof of cause. | Shows which categories pull your Health Age up or down. |
Where Apple Health Age is the better pick
It's free and built into the Health app, with no other app to install.
Apple adds a $119 Quest blood panel in the US and camera-guided movement evaluations.
Apple Watch data feeds it continuously, with no tests to take.
Where Ageon is different
No Apple Watch required. Without one, Ageon estimates cardio fitness from a 5K time, a recent run or three questions.
Strength and balance are measured, not guessed. Push-ups, sit-to-rise and one-leg balance are among the best simple predictors of how people age.
You can see exactly how the number is made. Every reference table, weight and source is on the method page.
Experiments compare your own readings before and during a change, so you can see what moved for you. They show a difference, not proof that the habit caused it.
Which should you choose?
If you have an Apple Watch and live in the US, Health Age costs nothing to try. Ageon is for people who want strength and mobility in the picture, want to see the method, don't have a Watch, or want to find out which habits move their own numbers. Ageon reads the same Apple Health data, so you can use both.
Questions
Does Apple Health Age need an Apple Watch?
Yes. Apple's Health Age uses Apple Watch readings such as VO2 max, resting heart rate, HRV and sleep. Ageon can estimate an age without a Watch.
Is Apple Health Age available outside the US?
Apple said the redesigned Health app launches in US English first, with more languages to follow.
Is Health Age the same as biological age?
No estimate from a phone or watch is a direct measure of biological aging. Health Age and Ageon Age both compare your readings with what's typical for your age.
Ageon gives wellness estimates, not diagnoses. No app or wearable measures biological aging directly. Prices are in US dollars and can change, so check each product's own page before you buy.
